The fight for Freedom
“In the battle for Liberty first comes knowledge then empowerment then strategic planning and execution and if we have the courage to stay the course then comes victory!” --Larry Ballard
My name is Larry Ballard and I am the host of this web site and author of Modern Slavery And The Fight For Freedom. I want to introduce myself to you and give you a chance to get a feeling for who I am and why I founded Liberty Crusade. I am not an extremist. I am a concerned citizen and like many Americans and others around the world I have increasingly found myself scratching my head in bewilderment and asking myself what happened to the world I grew up in? It was a kinder, gentler world where people were connected. It was a world where families were close knit, where neighbors could be counted on, where jobs were secure, where government was smaller, more open and more honest. I guess you could say I yearn for the good old days.

But that said, I am a realist and that is no longer the world we live in so the paramount question then becomes are we powerless, or do we have it within our power to change the world for the better? I contend that we can change things for the better, but not unless we are willing to look the devil in the eye, call him by name and order him to leave and never come back. In order to do that we must become informed responsible citizens. Without an understanding of what the problem is we are powerless to change our circumstances and are just victims.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be” Thomas Jefferson
So the first step to a better tomorrow is to become informed. Between this web site and my book Modern Slavery I propose you that you will be able to stop scratching your head in bewilderment. You will know exactly how the world got so screwed up, who is responsible and what we can do to create a world worth leaving to our children.
That sounds like a pretty bold promise so before I get into particulars I want to digress and do as I promised, which is to tell you a little about the man who is making these claims. I guess the first thing I should tell you is that I have a close relationship with the Lord. I am not a religious zealot, but I let the Lord order my footsteps and because of that willingness to surrender he, not I, is responsible for the insights and revelations we will be discussing.
I am not a politician, not a political insider, not a member of the financial elite, nor do I belong to any specialist group. I am an ordinary person just like you. So, that said, I am in a position to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God. That still doesn’t give you any idea of why I am qualified to make the claims I have made.
For that qualification we have to go back to my childhood. We all have a “Kingdom Calling” if we will recognize it and surrender to it. God called me for this appointed time (a time when it seems society has gone amuck) and every single solitary thing that happened in my life was to teach me what I would need to know to do what I was called to do.
The short version of my life is that I grew up poor. I was one of the few White children in the nation to participate the school segregation program which saw me bussed to the predominantly white suburbs where I received anything but a warm welcome. It would seem that discrimination is based as much on money as on color. My mother constantly told me that money was the key to happiness so I took her at her word and determined to go to college so I could find that all elusive happiness she promised me. Having had a head trauma at birth I had a learning disability which made me a slow learner, not dumb just slow. I had to work harder and be more persistent, but when I finally learned a thing I owned it.
What I am leading up to is an important lesson that I learned the hard way, one that I would hope you do not have to experience. I became a classic over achiever, otherwise known as a workaholic. I made money my God and it cost me my marriage and strained my relationship with my children. This is an especially important lesson in these hard economic times. We have to learn that as the Bible says “money is the answer for everything” (Ecc 10:19 NIV), which is to say it meets our needs, but “the love of money is the root of all evil” (Tim 6: 10) and it will surely ruin your life as it ruined mine. I learned the hard way that money without wisdom and humility is a curse. Failure to understand this is largely what is responsible for the personal tragedy's (present day) in the U.S. and other developed nations. So getting rid of our greed and establishing a balanced God centered moral life is intregral to restoring society to its former more balanced, more wholesome state. With this in mind Modern Slavery explores how big government has internationally intruded into our lives and fostered greed and divisiveness and how they use debt as a mechanism by which to control society. Big government has endeavored to systematically control us by undermining our political freedom, our Religious freedom, our family values, the educational system, the news media, the food supply, and the financial system. It is a trap from which we must escape.
